International Students
Yes, we do accept applications for our Sagely Scholars program from international students not currently living in the United States.
However, spots are significantly limited. Because of the difficulty low-income international students face in gaining acceptance and funding to U.S. colleges, we only consider international students who we believe have a reasonable chance of success.
To apply to Sagely Scholars as an international student, you should:
Have graduated from high school within the last two years
Have grades that equate to an unweighted 4.0 GPA
Have top performance on high school exit exams (if applicable)
Have SAT/ACT scores in the 99th percentile
Have a history of significant community engagement and involvement
Have a history of leadership in your community and school
Have a substantial extracurriculars list
We realize this is exceptionally limiting. However, it simply reflects the competitiveness of funded admissions to U.S. colleges for low-income international students.
We also strongly encourage all international students, whether you fit this profile or not, to apply to a wide variety of types of schools, especially those local to you and closer to home. Casting a wide net in your college search is crucial to ensuring you gain access to the education you need.
